Later today Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment are planning to release the latest updates for Sins of a Solar Empire, Sins of a Solar Empire - Entrenchment and Sins of a Solar Empire - Diplomacy/Trinity.  This is a small update, but resolves a long-standing desync/crash issue that's been causing pain to players.

As always, check your Impulse client for the update.

NOTE: This update may invalidate your save games

All:

+ This update fixes the most common desync and crash bug in each of the Sins games. Resolving this issue was a long time coming due to how difficult it was to track down, so we want to give special thanks to the following players for all their help -

  • Warren Tabada
  • Jordan Rideout
  • Kyle Leppert
  • Landon DePasquale
  • Frank Galati
  • Ben Horsley
  • Quarantine
  • Tristan Halverson

Sins of a Solar Empire - Diplomacy/Trinity:

Interface -

+ Trinity clients will now properly be labled on the main menu.
+ Play Entrenchment and Play Sins buttons now function properly and exist in the main menu.

Misc. -

+ Fixed a bug where certain treaties would break if the relationship between two players were negative and they were humans.

You will need to register your game with Impulse. Then you get yummy updates and can download it again anytime you need too.

Impuls keeps telling me, my Serial Number and/or my email adress are incorretct. Why does it do this?

I just bought the French retail box of Trinity.

Just after installation, Trinity version is 1.00 and other game if i well remembered  SofS 1.1842, Entrenchment v1.042

All text, sounds and OpeningCinematic  are in french.

So i decided to update my game via Impulse and "orders" sound and movie are now in English! Text remained in french. I supposed it's same with german version.

The workaround i had found is to replace all this sounds by the original french ones. Is there a other way?

What the reason for changing theses sounds? Because they seems to be exactly same as the english sounds found on my retail DVD.

And also the 2 OpeningCinematic were also replace by the english version. As each weight approx 103  and 115mo = 217mo  and the patch i downloaded is near 281, i assume that ±80% of this patch is composed by these movie! It seems a little bit strange, no?

Bye

I am also French, I also bought Trinity FR and I also have this problem when I patched the game from version 1.00 to 1.01 via Impulse. I do not find solutions anywhere.

Une solution alternative ici :

With the 1.191 Patch for Sins of a solar empire (I started with a German Version at 1.05) I get the same issue as IHaTeD2 with ships which wont move anymore after having played for a while. I had a situation where 1 of my fleets jumped to an ennemy planet (after loading a savegame from v1.191) and stood still after reaching its attack position and doing nothing (not even attacking) but parking. Only the ennemy turrets were firing and crippling some of my smaller ships.

I also had a Akkon Battlecruiser (with the same savegame) which seems to be unable to disengage its parkingbrake, it simply stands still near one of my colonies. Sometimes it moved for 2 seconds when I issued it a new moveorder.

I noticed that civilian ships like the construction frigates still move when I issue them a move order. And fighter/bombersquads of the "parking" ships still execute orders.

Downloading Impulse update - Retrying...

i bought the original sins a while back but i didnt know there were updates so i still have v1.0 and when i try to update to 1.05 it wont let me...do i need the v1.191 to play the diplomacy and entrenchment mods? if so how can i get the v1.191

You need to download and install a STEAM-like program called Impulse in order to patch the game and to purchase the two expansions.  It's very benign and you only need to run it when you want to patch the game.  (You can set it so that it won't start every time you boot your computer.)  You can find it at:  http://www.impulsedriven.com

You will need to register your CD key with Impulse.  Part of this game's DRM is that you can only install the patches if you actually purchased the game.

Note though, its much more responsive and has a much faster than Steam in general. The interface for one is faster, and has less effects.

on Oct 21, 2010

ok wat do i do if i have to wipe my computer do i have to buy the expansions again

on Oct 21, 2010

^No, as long as you have your impulse account you can digitally download them as many times as you wish.

on Oct 21, 2010

ok so i have the files i unzipped them into the mods v. 1.91 folder but when i try to access the mods from the game list in the options menu it calls a runtime error

on Oct 21, 2010

josh are you trying to use entrenchment mods in vanilla sins?

if yes then I suggest investing in the entrenchment  and diplomacy expansions, so that you can then use the mods for entrenchment & diplomacy, and the entrenchment mods need to be placed in the mods-entrenchment v 1.051, and the diplomacy mods need to be placed in mods-diplomacy v1.011, the mods-v1.191 is for VANILLA sins mods ONLY.

and one other neat trick in entrenchment & diplomacy is that you can have MORE than one mod active at a time,

BUT  vanilla sins is ONE MOD ONLY AT A TIME.

hope this helps

ok harpo

i had already bought the original sins when it first came out so i downloaded the entrenchment and diplomacy mods from the website that is provided when you go to the download tab and go to download mods and it takes u to a site...that one

so i then put the entrenchment mod and diplomacy mod into the vanilla's mod file

i thought since i bought it before the expansions that the expansions were mods as well...

on Oct 21, 2010

ps bye entrenchment mod and diplomacy mod i mean the expansions themselves
