Later today Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment are planning to release the latest updates for Sins of a Solar Empire, Sins of a Solar Empire - Entrenchment and Sins of a Solar Empire - Diplomacy/Trinity.  This is a small update, but resolves a long-standing desync/crash issue that's been causing pain to players.

As always, check your Impulse client for the update.

NOTE: This update may invalidate your save games

All:

+ This update fixes the most common desync and crash bug in each of the Sins games. Resolving this issue was a long time coming due to how difficult it was to track down, so we want to give special thanks to the following players for all their help -

  • Warren Tabada
  • Jordan Rideout
  • Kyle Leppert
  • Landon DePasquale
  • Frank Galati
  • Ben Horsley
  • Quarantine
  • Tristan Halverson

Sins of a Solar Empire - Diplomacy/Trinity:

Interface -

+ Trinity clients will now properly be labled on the main menu.
+ Play Entrenchment and Play Sins buttons now function properly and exist in the main menu.

Misc. -

+ Fixed a bug where certain treaties would break if the relationship between two players were negative and they were humans.

Thanks a lot! So this means I don't go back to desktop anymore when the ram limit of 2gb for this game is reached?

No, that a problem with any 32 bit game. There's nothing they could do about that besides a full change to 64 bit code, which won't happen.

Thanks for the outstanding support all these decades (aka since Sins came out)!!!

Optimizing the Game will help ... And you can have 3,5GB under 32Bit.

No, you can't.  Programs are limited to 2Gb.  OS can have 3.5Gb.

i have a thread about that somewhere, that details how to modify the OS to allow 3GB for games in 32 bit OS's. Solves the crash bug just fine.

It'd be nice if they officially patched the game to be large address aware, and then just told 32 bit users to either run lower settings, or modify the OS.

Nice to know you got it

But when are the patches going to stop rendering the mod tools useless?

No, you can't. Programs are limited to 2Gb. OS can have 3.5Gb.

Really depends on your hardware (motherboard card) / OS one of intells 32 bit couldn't have more then 3 Gb ram.

Are there other patches / enhancements in the roadmap or is this patch considered the final?

Thanks!

We thought there was going to be one more at least, but it has been a while since we last heard from Ironclad. So we don't really know. If there is another patch, it probably won't change much at least from a modding point of view, but that is just speculation on my part.
