Step-by-Step
Published on April 13, 2009 By Yarlen In Demigod Technical Support

Now that Demigod is available, quite a few people have been asking how they can register their game to play online.  Here's the step-by-step guide:

1)  Start Demigod and click Multiplayer

2) Click Internet

3) If you have an account, log in here. Your account is the same as you'd use on any Stardock website or Impulsedriven.com.  If you don't have an account click Create Account.  Otherwise, skip to Step 8.

4) Select Create new account. Enter your desired Account Name (i.e., nickname) and password. Please note your password must be between 8-12 characters.

5) Enter your name and email. A validation email will be sent to the address you enter. You'll need to follow think link in the email you receive to complete account setup.

6) Read through the Terms of Service if you like.

7)  Account creation complete!  Next Launch Impulse.

8) Click the Register Product button or the blue ? in the upper-right and select Register a product.

9) In the dialog, enter your Demigod serial number. The rest should be auto-entered for you.  This will allow you to play Demigod in online multiplayer, obtain updates, redownload the full game and much more.

I want to buy a physical CD and be able to download all patches from an FTP server and update as I see fit.

I fear that it won't be possible: Impulse is the only way to patch demigod.

Dude, relax. Of course they had more than two Beta Testers. Its not the Beta Tester's job to screen CD-Keys. Even under these strange circumstances, the ability to search through all the CD keys they've made and make a new one and process that all in two days or less is rather amazing. So, cut Impule and Stardock some slack dude. I'm still waiting on a reply from Stardock, but, unfortunately, I didnt read this post before, so, I am expecting an E-mail saying to send all the aforementioned items above lol.

The beta testers should have tested the system which included activating, registering and updating the game.  And I haven't even tried multiplayer yet, that should be joyful.  Their database should take care of keys and that would be rather simple.  The reason they need time is probably because they are understaffed or have lots of issues that keep their staff busy.  Either way the paying consumer should not be held accountable.

I purchased the game with the intent of playing it out of the box like many other games before it.  There's no reason I should give them a chance because after all, it's a product like any other on the shelf and if it doesn't work then back to the store it goes.  You have 30 days to exchange it so why should a consumer have to deal with support when they can take matters into their own hands?  Warranty support should be used after the return period has expired and you have no choice but to deal with the manufacturer of the product.

I don't understand how people take the slack off of the companies that provide faulty products.  The product should work.  Period.  I corrected the issue myself and everyone that has the same key issue should exchange it at their place of purchase because it's way faster than waiting for support to tell you to prove your purchase which will delay a new key even further.  If I find I have other technical issues that require me waiting, I'm requesting a refund and done with them.  That's how I deal with any company because it's my money.  If more people took this stance then we'd see a decline of inferior products.

Well, there wasn't any beta that was requiring receiving a CD by mail ...

BTW, if there are some problem with duplicate retail keys, no beta test can find it.

what if u don't have a digital camera or scanner?  seriously, these aren't required hardware for pc's, so people simply may not have the means to send this information to stardock.

Pretty much any cell phone can take pictures these days.

Do your best.  We are not trying to be difficult, we are trying to 1) verify ownership and 2) determine root cause so we can 3) address the larger problem.

I just wanted to let everyone here know that Stardock support has taken care of my serial number problem. I sent the photos yesterday after reading about that in this thread. They registered the new number for me in Impulse, so I didn't have to do anything. I was able to update right away and go online. So if you're still waiting, hang in there, they'll get to you!

Had an unworking reg key too. I sent my email to support with the aforementioned items last night. Still nothing but an auto-response email. Hope they fix this today so i can play tonight. It's really frustrating when the first thing you experience with a game is bugs and having to sift through the support forums.

Did you get the autoresponse? If so, please wait until support gets back to you before sending further mails. Additional mails before you've gotten a response will only delay you in the queue. If you did not get the autoresponse, make sure to check your spam filters and such.

I GOT A BIG PROBLEM!

Please contact support@stardock.com regardless; same goes for anyone getting the ref 204 error.
