The next major update for Sins of a Solar Empire, the best-selling PC strategy game of 2008 that puts the player in command of an interstellar empire at war, is here!
Since this new update is huge and contains several brand new technologies, we're going to be offering it as an optional beta for those who want to help test it out and provide feedback.
Version 1.1 not only includes a host of play balancing changes but new content such as an updated graphics engine, updated visuals, new damage animations, and more. It also includes a new multiplayer system called "Alloy" which eliminates the need for configuring routers or changing port numbers.
This beta update will be available only through Stardock's new Impulse platform (
http://www.impulsedriven.com
).

I honestly don't understand what all the confusion is with team colors
It works fine.
Enabled = you get a color assigned to whichever team you're on.
Disabled = you get the color you picked for yourself.

At this point I'd be happy to just d/l the beta, or the full game. I tried uninstalling as suggested, and I've been trying to connect off and on all day. Server must be cooked :/

I heard the beta comes with cookies, I downloaded the update for the beta (1.1) but did not get any cookies... *sad*
Those come complimentary with a small cash donation at your local bakery.

I just updated mine and it went without a hitch.

Well, i played 2. I have a giltch to report. Sometimes the camera will not scroll to the right.....also random FPS issues....nothing else yet.

does the update work without uninstalling the whole game and installing the update while having the old version?
edit: right now it say's "processing: may take several minutes."

I'm contemplating downloading the beta (although I'd rather wait it out until 1.1), but I am very interested in hearing about the new explosives engine. For those of you who have played the new beta, any comments on it? How does it look? How is it different?
I'm excited for this patch!

Ok I'm getting a "Setup is not supported by Windows XP x64" message when trying to install this Impulse dealy. Could someone point me towards a fix for this, or the right place for an answer if this is the wrong place to ask.
I'd like to try this beta on my currently fully working x64 copy of SoaSE

I have ideas for new patch. A brand new animation system, like we know Sins ship is lack of animation. Like capital ship cannon, their gun is not move just the sprite that move. Sometimes it break the feel of massive warfare, because all unit didn't have more animation. Can Ironclad add new animation system in next patch after balancing and working alloy engine.

Is there any plan for releasing updated forge tool for modders?
Yes, we'll release beta versions shortly. We'd like to provide them as soon as possible so that mods can be ready when 1.1 is out of beta.
Can't wait, already messing around with the new textures.
I found a small graphic bug in the Kol.
If you look closely, the right autocannon's muzzle effect needs to be rotated. It's currently firing into the ship.

I am trying to register my sins game so I can get beta. When it says enter serial code, does it mean Code on inside of Box or something else that I'm missing?
