The next major update for Sins of a Solar Empire, the best-selling PC strategy game of 2008 that puts the player in command of an interstellar empire at war, is here!

Since this new update is huge and contains several brand new technologies, we're going to be offering it as an optional beta for those who want to help test it out and provide feedback.

Version 1.1 not only includes a host of play balancing changes but new content such as an updated graphics engine, updated visuals, new damage animations, and more. It also includes a new multiplayer system called "Alloy" which eliminates the need for configuring routers or changing port numbers.

This beta update will be available only through Stardock's new Impulse platform (http://www.impulsedriven.com).

See the full change log for all the details and the beta information thread for more information on obtaining the update.

So I'm trying to download and install the Implulse application. I have tried on both XP SP2 32bit box and a Vista 64bit box. Each time with the same result, an error message: "The Impulse setup program is unable to download files from the Internet to complete the installation process. Please check your Internet connection and firewall settings and retry setup. The Impulse installation will now exit. Note: You can also visit www.ImpulseDriven.com to download an updated version of the Impulse setup program.""Error IMPD01-300"Each time I tried with my norton firewall disabled and my computer placed in the DMZ. I also download and ran the installer from the site(saving and then running and also tried running from ie temp folder). I clear the ie cache each time. I also tried with fire fox.   What gives? Is this apart of the game? I just want to download this beta patch and have some fun this afternoon. Am I suppose to hold down a secret key sequance while running the installer? Please help! I love you games and the Impulse concept seems intresting, but by the volume of complaints on this fourm, you have a problem. I think that it is time for some transparency and a dedication of resources to resloving these problems.

Yer I am having the same problem...

I got an install/download error as well with Impulse (just a few days ago).

Wow!  I this of course killed my previous game, but I was about finished anyways.  This version has better graphics without all the slowdown I ran into!

Ok, I'm having some difficulties downloading through Impulse. Yes I've got everything checked right, I can see the file I want to download, and everything else is fine up until I click "Update."  At that point it reaches about 4.7% complete, then freezes and tells me that it's having "Networking difficulties."

I've turned off my firewall (Atleast the ones I can actually bloody access), and done everything I know how to, to get this to work.... Any suggestions?

Edit: Also, I've tried to uninstall the whole of Sins, and reinstall it, and guess what? networking difficulties at 0.0%....
