While playing a game as Rebel with a Rebel ally, I noticed they continuously jumped between two or three of their systems in what I assume is an attempt to engage the Insurgent forces that spawn in their grav wells due to my upgrade. Since they are rebel as well, they cant attack or destroy each other, but it effectively kept my ally so busy shuffling between its own systems that they became pretty much useless when I needed their help to attack our enemies.  Has anyone else noticed this problem?

edit: speaking of the rebel reinforcements, if the insurgent ships aren't dealt with (i.e. destroyed) they stack up in gravity wells and create HUGE fleets that I believe drain CPU performance. These massive refugee fleets would be good for defending your gravity wells from any aggressors, but often times they are in wells that are far from the front line and have little to no chance of being attacked.  I'm sure this issue will be resolved by the final relase, if not within the next few betas.

Oh btw, is this thread where we should be voicing our observations, problems, suggestions, etc?

Thanks to all the SINS developers! Glad to see the excitement for the game is back.

Played a game through, found my Rebel Titan (forgot its name already...) unwilling to automatically move within range of a target after setting the field of engagement to small, and then to large again.  After jumping to another planet, it seemed to be okay again, other then that, a good step forward for an already great RTS!  Can't wait to see the other factions!

Quoting pkaski, reply 58There's a special place in hell for companies that have 2 betas at once, you know..................................

And wat 2 betas would those be ?

on a more related note, finally we get a decent opening cinematic from you guys rather than the original one. always nice to see a mock of of the in-game action when starting the game as a teaser .

initial impressions after 15 mins of play, are very good when looking at the tech trees. it is good to known that there is a research delay into how long it takes to actually build your titan, as no one likes an ai that gets it well before you and rapes you consistently for the fun of it

will be having an in depth play throu once im awake after work but its good to see you guys appear to have put alot of thought into this version of sins.

On a modding related a note, do you plan to release the reference files etc for the modding teams out there before main release? as alot of fans would love to see some of the more popular mods like sins of the fallen, malestorm, star trek mods, star wars mods etc not take years to be able to successfully update their mod to rebellion.

Edit:

would i be right or partially right in assuming you lovely gents plan to release 3 betas in total one each for the loyalist and rebel sides of the 3 original sins fractions. and is there still no set date on when rebellion will be released or a rough estimate even for when this will happen.

The Elemental - Fallen Enchantress beta is out now for those who pre-ordered the original game ( a bit of a stumble for Stardock, that was), so we're up to the second release beta of that.  Brad both giveth and taketh away (games and time, respectively).  I gotta get beta time in with both before Mar 6.  I've got plenty of beta time in on Sins, so while I want to get my $0.02 worth in, I've more than had my say on Sins, but I'm SOOOO torn.

the game is great with the new ships n all but i expected flashier graphix :/ still love it though.

the titan is such a turn on, its a moving starbase...more like 2 starbases in 1 fully maxed out that phase jumps. i absolutely love it, takes a while to level up but the time invested is worth it once u let it survive to higher levels, game maker or breaker.

Hey Yarlen (or another rep from Stardock)... is it true that with the release of Rebellion, you will also release an updated GalaxyForge that incorporates map "triggers"... so that you can make scenario's etc?

I was just playing a game and as soon as research for Tech Rebels - Flak Frigate finishes I crash.

Correction. I seem to crash randomly when a AI fires the big cannon (forgot name).

I have compressed the crash dumps and they are available here:

Is it just me or are the TEC rebels WAAAAAY overpowered?

Just keep building colony ships and Akkons (colony capital ships) right after you get "Truce Amoungst Rogues" (tech that makes neatral your ally). Neutrals will protect you "enough" early on. By the time you are noticed as a threat you have so much income you can build any fleet you need (including your Titan)

Build 2 Civic research centers, research logistics upgrade, build another Civic research center and then research TAR. After that just keep building colony ships/Akkons and upgrading developing the planets as you take them.

Then just pump into reasearch as you will have WAY more income than anyone early on.

you get more planets but less income compared to someone who ecos in the traditional way. Plus brings you close to the enemy faster

Me and my friend have just discovered a pretty interesting and annoying bug.

Whenever auto placement of buildings is enabled for a asteroid belt and request a building to be build, the game of the opposite party or both parties crash.

@JohnJames

No thats my point. Its not less income. You get wayyy more quite quickly because you can claim the wells you want with no battle right in the beginning.

Here is why.

Normal strat is some explore and build a small fleet to take neighboring wells. Sometimes you have to reach out further because neigboring wells have little resources so you skip the battle (with neutral). Under this strat the play used resource for the fleet AND exploration (Ok that is cheap.. IN fact I did that as well but I see no point with this rebel strat).

The Rebel colony strat need only get the tech to neutralize the other rebels (neutral armies) and only build colony ships early on. Resource wise it is about the same. I did not do the exact math but I have played the game with all stages of expansions enough to know when I should be expanding etc. and if I have enough resources.

Under this strat you send out one single colony ship and get it with no battle. ideally you find ones you need no new techs yet (not volcanic or ice). Eventually you want Ice and Volcanic anyways so those should be the target techs after neutralizing the rebels.

As you take each colony you develop it so it is not consuming but rather producing. Timing wise it seems I can grab like 4 or 5 wells to what a normals strat gets 1.

As long as one upgrades the wells as they get them their resources are INSANE compared to normal. I kept flooding the market. I constantly had resources on the market AND I would crash the market as well. Once I had roughly 1/3 of the system I raced for the Titan built it and slaughter 'close' neighbors. by close I mean the ones closest to my home world. I then proceeded to slaughter the remaining.

Time wise a Huge game was about an hour and I new the system was mine and about another hour for clean up. I still have I am guessing 30 min to 1 hour to claim which victory I want now.
