Umm, you guys whinging about pre-ordering with credit cards. Do you realise there exists such things a prepaid credit cards. Buy the card for a couple of bucks, load up your amount and then use away.

I'm probably not going to pre-order until I get more screenies and gameplay footage.

I'm tempted to buy Trinity since it's $20 right now and I'd get $10 discount on the Rebellion pre-order, meaning I'd spend $10 more but get two standalone games ($50 for two games vs. $40 for Rebellion alone).  However, I'm hoping that someone who's played Trinity and has decent knowledge of Rebellion can tell me if it's worth it, i.e. does Trinity offer a unique gaming experience or if I should simply wait for Rebellion.

Thanks!

Did you really just ask if Trinity is good?

If you want to be ready for Rebellion and play a good game in the meantime, get Trinity. It's amazing.

Rebellion will have all of Trinity's features and a heck of a lot more.

It's worth, plus if you like various space genres there are plenty of good mods to play too. Online is fun, but extremely challenging due to low player counts and experienced players.

I guess the other thing I'd like to know is if Trinity will simply sit there collecting (electronic) dust once Rebellion comes out...

Yes, it will. Except if you have mods that only support Trinity.

I think I'll still buy Trinity first and play it for a few months.  X Rebirth also looks very interesting - anyone know if there will be beam canons like the ones used by capital ships in Trinity?  I'm talking about those sustained beams (i.e. not pulse canons)...

The game play between the two will probably be pretty similar overall with new embellishments for Rebellion.  The question is, do you want to play the game now or would you be willing to wait another 8 months or however long it takes for them to produce Rebellion.  How much free time do you currently have to devote to gaming?  Maybe it's worth the extra $10 to be able to enjoy the game over the next 8 months.

Wow, if Rebellion won't be out for at least another 6 months, then I'm definitely getting Trinity first...can't wait that long!

It's wierd, I login to preorder the game, the wondow pops up showing the rebellion, 29.95, release date Q4 2011, but no where is there a place I can click to continue to purchase the pre order. am I missing something or is there an issue with the site?

on Aug 31, 2011

Does anyone know if the $29.95 price for diplomacy owners is just for the preorder or will it be valid even after it is fully released?
