Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment are pleased to announce pre-orders for the upcoming Sins of a Solar Empire micro-expansion, Diplomacy. After 25 years of war, some elements of the TEC, Vasari and Advent have grown weary of conflict and desperately seek a respite. The decision is made to attempt peaceful negotiations to end the wars, but others view this new effort at diplomacy as the perfect means to destroy their enemies from within.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy will add a new Diplomacy tech tree, new envoy cruisers, the ability to issue missions to other players, trade pacts, an entirely new relationship system, deadlier pirates and more.

Pre-orders for Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy are available now for $9.95. This micro-expansion will require the full versions of Sins of a Solar Empire and Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment to play. To pre-order, just head over to the Store.

I think Yarlen has shared everything he CAN at this point. If IronClad is working on a Sins 2 or full expansion, burying that announcement in a thread about their current microexpansion is prolly not the best way to do it.

Yarlen, quick question - can you slap up at least one screenie of the new work, or is at that stage yet. I realize the theme is diplomacy which makes it hard to actually show in-game content that'll be new until the very end, and you're most likely going to want to conserve things like the core trading/mission screens until you're done tweaking them, but perhaps a look at one of the new pirate vessels (if there are any) can be shared?

Put me down for a preorder, and thanks for making the price point of the game so appealing.

take a look at the (unofficial) youtube video made during pax. it shows the new diplomacy screen and gives a look at the diplomatic research screen. preliminary so far I guess, but it does give a little info.

well, glad it finally starts taking some form here. late fall probably means something like november, which would fit. entr. beta came in november and the final product came in february, so that makes sense.

I do have to say I wonder a bit about the 'we get down a discuss what we want to add' thing brad mentioned in the other thread. I mean, he himself started a diplo idea months back and by this stage I'd figure they should already be past throwing general ideas around and busy implementing stuff.

as for the pre-order. I have every confidence it will be a wonderful product and will quite likely give my say in the beta. but I have so far been less than happy with information policy and I will hold back until I get at least one good preview that goes into more detail about what all these new additions do, how they play out. but yeah, I get it, marketing and PR has its own ideas when what should be announced and nothing is worse than missign deadlines, scrapping ideas, etc. does not make the waiting any better though /)

Preordered here and waiting for the beta's release

on Sep 17, 2009

Ooops!! Payday in two more days!! Then i can pre-order!!!

-T

When you pre-order, you don't pay for it now, you pay for it once it is actually released (which will be next year).  So, you don't have to wait your payday on Friday.

AND FOR YOU PAYPAL people...this goes for you too...the reason you can't use paypal to pre-order is that you don't actually pay for anything right now...you pay when released...for that to occur, you actually have to give them a credit card number.

Hope that answers some questions.

Actually folks will be charged in the Fall when we release Beta 1.

We'll post some screenshots once we've done a little more work on things. We want to put our best foot forward after all.

actually, as I just checked my account...I have a pending charge on there for the pre-order already...hope I don't get charged twice!...better keep this in my records in case I do.

You won't. They put a hold on the funds for a few days usually, then clear it.

That's kinda what I was thinking would happen...I'll keep my eye on it anyways...

Read the rest of the posts in this thread.

It's the last micro expansion but not the end of Sins.

on Sep 22, 2009

Hm. I've preordered it, but can't seem to add it to my game list in Impulse. Does that mean I need to hang onto that email till the beta's on the servers?

I'd rather activate it now and download when it's ready.

on Sep 22, 2009

it will automatically be added when it is available, assuming the same system as entrenchment had.

Hey. I was keeping my last Totalgaming token for this micro-expansion... On their website, I don't see the place to pre-order. If not available, will it be possible to buy it that way? I hope so!
