Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment are pleased to announce pre-orders for the upcoming Sins of a Solar Empire micro-expansion, Diplomacy. After 25 years of war, some elements of the TEC, Vasari and Advent have grown weary of conflict and desperately seek a respite. The decision is made to attempt peaceful negotiations to end the wars, but others view this new effort at diplomacy as the perfect means to destroy their enemies from within.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy will add a new Diplomacy tech tree, new envoy cruisers, the ability to issue missions to other players, trade pacts, an entirely new relationship system, deadlier pirates and more.

Pre-orders for Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy are available now for $9.95. This micro-expansion will require the full versions of Sins of a Solar Empire and Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment to play. To pre-order, just head over to the Store.

Hi Yarlen,

Can you confirm that this is the last micro expansion/expanion for sins? Are you guys working on sins 2?

Thanks

For myself, i am not sure. I was really looking for a campaign editor and new condition victories that would make you avoid killing everyone when it is clear that i am going to win (like the 80% control of the map victory condition of Rise of Nations that avoided me painful and boring end of games) or new rules (like if you lose your capital and do not get it back within 10 minutes you lose for example) so i am a bit disappointed by this last expansion.

Moreover, i would like to avoid the entrenchment syndrome : great new toys but IA too dumb to play with them so the game is less fun and has so great new features that it make you unable to go back playing vanilla sins (Starbases are so cool !). for example, i think i spend far too much time building defenses, crushing starbases and mines than making exciting space battles.

So, wait and see.

Just so everyone knows, if you follow the link at the bottom of this post, you'll see the best confirmed response to the whole 3rd expansion/Sins 2 prospect.

Fans of the space strategy game Sins of a Solar Empire might remember that around this time last year developer Ironclad Games and publisher Stardock announced plans for three micro-expansions for the game to be available via digital download for $9.99 each. The first such micro-expansion, Entrenchment, was released last spring and the second, Diplomacy, is due out in spring 2010. But what about the third micro-expansion?

Today at PAX 2009, Stardock CEO Brad Wardell announced that plans for the third micro-expansion for the game have changed. Why? According to Wardell, Ironclad and Stardock have so many things they want add and improve to the game that putting all of them into a third $9.99 downloadable micro-expansion would simply not work. So what does that mean? Will there be a larger commerical expansion to the original game? Perhaps even a full-fledged sequel? Wardell admitted to nothing today but did say that fans of the original game should know that the future of the series is looking good.

AND MORE!!

So this says...."and more."

I think you guys at Stardock and Ironclad have some explaining to do with this statement...

Does "and more." equal MOONS!!!!!?!?!?!??!?!?!?

There's going to be a beta for a reason. What changes they have now won't be the same at release

Well, we seem to have confirmation from Brad's comments at PAX that the future of Sins "Is Looking Good..." in his words.

I like that alot!!!!

By the time i get good enough to not lose my socks to the Pirates in Diplomacy it will be time for Sins2.

Hehe,

I am Happy!

p.s. Maybe by then i will be done with school and can actually "play" a game or two some afternoon. I might even slow down my modding, think?  NEVER!!  Haha, well... some things never change!

Hmm... so no game-flipping changes, just smoother and less-flawed gameplay...

Officially? So you DO know , you're just keeping it under tabs to create more of a suprise when it gets out... OR you're just teasing to rouse excitement.

Alright, un mas question... ( I guess I should try French, since you live in Canada, though... ) Envoy Ships, they kinda confused me when they said this. What exactly are they and what purpose do they serve in/outside of the fleet?

-Thx. Srry for being such a pest, though.

No kidding. I hope Diplomacy beta comes out during a lull in the Elemental beta. Otherwise I'll have no idea which to play

I hope Diplomacy beta comes out before CoD 4 Modern Warfare 2 so I won't feel guilty not playing Sins if that is not the case.  (did that make sense?)

Preordered!  Any idea when the beta will be out?

That's the universal question right now, but only time will tell (or a dv with some loose lips...)
