Q more buddy, impulse does nothing wrong in any way it's actually better, personally I feel that you're screaming, "I"M A PIRATE GIVE ME A FREE PATCH!" Question is or what?  What can you do if you are a pirate, you don't get 1.1 and that's your problem go get impulse it's a good program dumbass!  No one really cares if you say "I refuse to run impulse" cuz every1 else who bought the game will so get used to it and if you are a pirate fuck off.

Your post was as close as possible to useless babble. I am getting the inclination that this forum is utilized by nothing but douches and fanboys.

"every1 else who bought the game will ... get used to it"

If a product changes in a way you do not like then it is the consumer's responsiblity to make sure the company knows that the change is not welcome and will adversly effect my opnion of that company. I don't need a steam knockoff to update my game for me. The only usefull information I did get out of your post was the idea to wait until the update is cracked and download it then. Being a lawful owner of the game, but being forced to run some homebrew version of it in order to access content will suck.... but I find my other options more annoying.

Would you be less pissy if Impulse had no other use, were called "Sins game updater" and came in different flavors for every game you owned?

It's not Steam, it doesn't have to run while you play.

Being a poor bastard on a throttled connection with a daily download limit, I rather like being able to install patches without having to get all the crap I already have in a cumulative patch.  Being a poor bastard on satellite, I'd rather they were stand alone as it locks on startup while attempting to connect, although much to my delight, Impulse takes far less than the several minutes it used to require...

Not everyone that thinks you're a tard for whining about what amounts to a game updater is a rabid fan that loves Impulse.  It's use outwieghs it's annoyance, and it's annoying for reasons that are specific to my idiotic connection method out here in hickville.

Stardock has pointed out a number of times that it was always intended that Impulse would be the vehicle by which Sins (and all their other upcoming games) would be updated. I believe it's even mentioned in the Sins manual. But Impulse wasn't ready in time for the release of Sins, so the patches were provided for DL on the site. However, since Impulse is now up and running, this is the way all their games will be updated from this point forward.

That being said: what do you have against Impulse? It's not (thankfully) like Steam in that you must have it to play the base game. You only need it in order to update. All you need to do is fire it up, update, then shut it down. No need to have anything else to do with it other than that if you don't want to.

Yes, unlike Steam Impulse is not compulsory in the background - it merely properly sets up your program, then disappears if you so desire (which I desire... nothing against Impulse btw).

Steam deprives me of independence from foreign servers when I wish to play on my own. Winblows LIVE is buggy as Hell and more importantly just a gateway by which MS can attempt to monopolize online entertainment (via controls). Impulse`s facility to provide us with updates and a matchmaking service is fine to me however; nothing beyond a purchase registration activity, which I don`t mind doing for the benefit of the developer.

Did I mention how silly it will be for Steam to cripple the Left4Dead demo when the full game is released on the 22nd (?)?? What if someone hasn`t had a chance to try the thing by then? Pretty high-handed & arbitrary. But that has less to do with this topic...

and sadly I will never be able to play it, because I refuse to run impulse.

To quote stardock:

Gamers shall have the right to demand that download managers and updaters not force themselves to run or be forced to load in order to play a game.

I demand a non-impulse version of the patch.

I agree

I am also sickened by the fanboy sycophants on this forum. No wonder the game is dead.

just because i'm not "annoyed" and whine over the whole thread that the patch is distributed via impulse i'm a fanboy. yeah, right...

SWEET ITS GOING TO BE OUT IN A FEW MORE DAYS

on Nov 16, 2008

Will the entrenchment beta be out the same day.

Will the entrenchment beta be out the same day.

It is supposed to be out soon after. I would guess a week or more later but no offical date was given.

on Nov 17, 2008

Quick question if i might, things have been rather tight financially recently, and so my plans to get the pre-order haven't happened yet. I wanted to ask if the beta is accessable to the "public", if i will have a chance to try it, and still order the expansion for when it is released. Or will i not have access until i pre-order?

If that is the case then i will just have to wait a few weeks, not my best hopes, but i can understand if it is setup that way. I just havent been clear about how it is supposed to work, sorry, everyone has been talking oh what about this and what about that, but im not wanting it for nothing, i expect to pay for it. I'm just not clear on how it is set up to go. Any clarification would be appreciated.

Also, we have had a lot of flames on the site lately, making me wonder what kind of people are getting on the forums. Well, if you want to flame me, just do it and get it over. I got a game to buy and play and two little ones to raise, so if i offended someone with my "can i play it in beta" and they dont like it, well, im sorry, im not trying to rip anyone off.

Thanks for any clarification,

Sincerely,

-Teal

p.s. I guess im on the defensive, sorry. Too many flames and bad language lately have made me a little paranoid.

Unfortunately it will only be available to pre-order customers. But don't worry, the forums will be crawling with enough screenshots and hopefully movies and all sorts of other info

The way it works though is when the beta is released your card gets charged and the serial number gets attached to your account allowing you to download the beta (and the subsequent release). So the way it's set up, you can't get the serial until you order the thing.

Ahhh... Thank you Annatar.    I guess i'll have to wait a few weeks, but it will be nice to get it eventually. Take care,

I dont know why some people are so against Impulse, admittedly i didnt want to have to download it at first but when i did i was impressed with the finished look and polished feel it has compared to steam, and im not a fanboy because i love me some steam because of all the mods and software that is available on it, also, i love the fact that Impulse isnt a background program
