Oh snap.

on Oct 09, 2008

just saw it! AMAZING!!!!

No kidding. The TEC starbase looked awesome, and it's nice that we'll be able to customize stationary defenses with extra goodies (flak guns on hangars, anyone? )

All in all, it sounds and looks great. November 18th

Awesome!!!!! But there were 2 things missing from that show: A) The Real "Co-hosts" of X-play and 2) the Canadian accent! Crafty Canadians... trying to sound like us...

The TEC starbase was huge!!! Looks like an awesome expansion (can't wait for the other two either!). I might wait a month or two after Entrenchment's release to get it though (since I might have a new computer in December/January). Oh yeah and missiles on Gauss turrets? Pure pwn! Now my fleets can actually attack!

Questions: after we choose where we want the starbase, can we mobilize it again later? And how long does it take to deploy and undeploy? And how many can we have?

on Oct 09, 2008

I don't remember all the answers, but I remember that once you deploy it you can't un-deploy to move it elsewhere. And I think it's one per grav well.

Looks & sounds good. Can`t wait for the release, as well as for more info on the next expansions.

Btw, what are the specs for the system that demo was running on? I`d be curious for comparison to my own (including the resolution display setting of the monitor)?

I'm excited. The TEC starbase looked awesome. At first I just saw it firing the beams from the corners, then noticed the lasers coming from the sides. Awesome. I can't wait to play this.

Looks awesome! That base truely is a immense behemoth! Would love to see some other ones in action !

One per grav well, or one per PLAYER per grav well. Imagine 5v5 game where each player puts one in a grav well (including the sun).... That would be.... interesting!!!

A solid interview and article.  Congrats Blair!

Hey Guys,  Reporting from LA here... Can't wait to get home and polish this off!
By the way, system specs will remain the same despite all the new features and content!

Getting excited! Nice job and interview.

Loved everything I saw in the video.  Couple questions though and one pretty much irrelevant minor quibble.

1.  What was the cylinder-shaped object with six rectangular boxes around it that was zoomed in on several times?

2.  Was the spiky orb a mine?  I kinda doubt it as it was so large and I didn't see any others nearby.  Then again, it's possible we were just zoomed in really far and turned at an angle to not see the others.

As for the quibble, while I was blown away by the TEC's starbase, I wouldn't mind if the beam cannons got their maximum firing angle knocked down a bit.  Looked just a little strange when emitters sticking out at one angle fired back and almost behind themselves.  Like I said, not important, but just thought I'd force myself to mention something negative amidst all the pure awesome.  Heh.

I am very impressed! You guys really rock! Thanks for this expansion!

Yeah I'm gunna agree with you on that. It does it in Sins right now so I think they need to fix it. (I'm glad someone else noticed it!)
