True, but there are always some costs associated with localization of a game. The version sold in France is 100% french: french manual, french packaging, french text, french voice.

And I don't know how  localization of updates will be handled ....

BTW, 40 euros for a PC games is a good price. New PC games costs generally 50 euros.

Now for the rest of Europe!

Well, 40€ is more or less what we pay for PC games in France. For a boxed version it is somehow cheap (a classic price is 50€). Add-ons are 20/30€ boxed.

PS3 games are 70€... More or less $100 ! ôO

Anyway, I'd like to know if it's possible to reverse back to the original english version (even by modding the game). Because I think the translation is poor. here's my constructive rant : I've got three concern.

- Some of the texts are poorly translated. I mean translating "Point blank" by "Point Blanc" is google translation. It's "Bout portant" ! I'm currently reading it, retranslate is back to english how google would and then properly retranslate it back to french to understand. There's a clear lack of testing there :/
- The voices play are not so good (as in 50% of french translation anyway, but here some really play against the game, esp. voice message when a ship is complete). Not so important but, well, too bad for us :/
- And most important, a lot of sentences are missing (I've got a lot of, if not all, ingame green "string missing" messages). This need to be fixed asap, what are these green texts ?

If I could grab the green text file, I'd translate it (and give to someone that could make it into the game).

Err... Help ? Is there a way to reverse it back to english voices/english texts ?

I don't know how the translation is handled. But I know a way to get the english version: register the serial id in impulse and use impulse to download the full game. You may need to uninstall sin first. Be warned, this requires a very good internet connexion.

You could also try to use the non official french version. You will need to go here http://trans-galactique.forum2jeux.com/ and search a little.

It could also be useful to posts the localization bugs you have encountered on the official french site: https://www.sinsofasolarempire.fr/

Hi..

Pay the 40 Euros, it's a localization and if you want releases later in French you'd do well not to try to pirate this game or get it cheaper. StarDock has made this game available at a very fair price and for once we get real support for a game and no CD protection etc. It's time for users and the community to make such gestures rewarding for producers!
This is a truly entertaining game and so worth the money. NO PIRACY!

As others have said, it has always been like this in Europe (for all products), whether it's about localised content or not. So the price isn't that bad really, unlike the fact that we usually get inferior boxed products, with shorter manuals (things cut out and such, no colour) and less fluff compared to US versions.

Luckily the SoaSE box available in Belgium here (I think it's just the UK edition but that's fine, no need for French or Dutch translations, they would sound ridiculous anyway imo) is a great package, it's been a while since I've seen such a thick box with a flap for a regular strategy game. And that at 10 euros less than the regular 50 euros retail price. Good job Kalypso and Stardock.

We're unable to provide localized files for those who didn't purchase the Kalypso version of the game, since Kalypso owns the localized versions.
