Gamespot hooked up with Ironclad Games at GDC to take a look at the upcoming, Sins of a Dark Age. Blair Fraser gives a nice overview of the free-to-play strategy hybrid, including what gamers can expect from the Commander role.
Sorry but this is not my kind of game at all. Maybe I will grow to love it
The armies look like a big mess of "blob" with no real tactics other than what your heroe is armed with.
Total War LOTR mod will do me.
Never been a heroes kinda guy so I guess the targetted audience is very different to sins.. reminds me of that other game by star dock called elemental or the original warcraft2 or 3 with heroes thrown in.
If you brought the game to a little more contemporary status I would recommend spawning foot soldiers as solid units rather than individuals, so they look like armies. Remember the game praetorians by that spanish mob, that was a lot of fun and spawned units.
i think it looks fun will have to c about getting it once it comes out
Check out Wargame European Escalation for the kinda game I'm liking atm. I am of course also playing the rebellion BETA when it matures a bit.
Why is it free to play? How will you make your money?
No spehss ships? Me no like.
Is there going to be Rebellion presentation at GDC as well?
Looks totally awesome IMHO ! Love it ! Love ironclad
Still, rebellion is the one I'm waiting the most the beta is already so great !
Though classic SOASE doesn't work anymore since Iinstalled the beta ! Looks like the game is confused between which one is trinity and which one is rebellion
Really excited to see how this pans out. Lots of fun ideas. I'm really concerned about balance, though. For instance, I'd wager that if your commander is utter crap, that it really doesn't matter how well your play your hero... it might very well be game over. But, if you had a hero that was smeh, I'd wager a commander could certainly make up for that to some degree. Anyway, I'm sure alot of balancing will take place and hopefully they get to a point where it wouldn't be a sure fire loss if one person isn't all that solid in the commander role.
Anyway, looking forward to the beta and hope I'm in it. Games like this I can really sink my teeth into.
Hopefully commanders get to build buildings 'cause those areas looked a little sparse and sparse makes me sad.
Simply put Sins of a dark Age is a medival RTS instead of a 4x RTS that gives users who are not into space faring games a chance to play with there own variations of capital ships and titans that have abilities (commanders etc)
Shut up and take my money!
here is some more info about it http://www.dotmmo.com/sins-of-a-dark-age-7525.html
Huge LoL player and have many friends who play League of Legends, this is interesting and the first I have seen on it. I will watch it closly and frog if your still around , hit me up with an email if you want some LoL player testers later , I got a list for ya.
What a cool concept! Commander view is a bit like the marine commander view of Natural Selection & Natural Selection 2. Can't wait!
