im gunna have to try and finish my epic save games befor i update! i dont think ill ever stop playing this game.

Just make a FULL copy of the games installation directory prior to updating (assuming you have free HD space). I have copies for 3 versions back on this PC for mods currently though it may be time to cleanup the oldest ones now as I have updated versions of all the mods I play.

The game still runs on the copy and still allows online play. The DRM is only for updating your installation to the latest version.

so...an initial pirate raid with a guarded threat-level with a bounty of 250 credits is... 5 Corsairs (heavy), 10 cutthroats (medium), and 11 Rogues (light frigates).

I like where the patch is going overall but this seems a little high to me but I haven't played with pirates in a while.  maybe it would be better to use the threat-levels to double as tech-levels (in terms of ship classes they use for raids) so low raids only have light frigates, guarded have flak and siege, and you don't see corsairs until highest?  Since Cutthroats have no equivalent, maybe throw them in at elevated or high.  Then the bounty level modifies the ship amounts?

A difficulty level for pirates would be grand but that might have to wait for another expansion.
