The beta for Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy pre-order customers is now over.  All pre-order customers will gain access to the final version of Diplomacy this coming Tuesday, February 9th.  Ironclad and Stardock would like to extend our thanks to all of the testers who participated in the Diplomacy beta and provided feedback. It's no exaggeration that Diplomacy was greatly changed based on your feedback!

For Diplomacy testers:  If you update your copies of Sins of a Solar Empire or Entrenchment to v1.19/1.05 respectively, you will no longer be able to play Diplomacy until the final release.

oh ok good, i thought my computer was seriously messed up, i guess its back to entrenchment for the week till the final release comes out

on Feb 03, 2010

glad I read this before I did my usual "connect gaming pc to internet for weekly updates"

i'll be keeping impulse offline until tuesday!

on Feb 03, 2010

impulse does not force you to update so there is no need to worry about hooking up impulse, just tell it no to update

unlike some digital distributers (looks at steam)

on Feb 03, 2010

ahh damm just wished I didn't update

on Feb 03, 2010

*sigh*... i guess we can live for a few days before we can play diplo again...NOT

*goes to make back up copy of current version of sins*

Oh, you're right about impulse - and as far as i'm concerned it's way better than steam, which isn't even stable on my pc. Every time I try to run half life 2/portal/l4d etc it crashes (steam, not my pc). I bought left for dead then had to d/l an "illegal" copy to be able to play it at all, because of steam. Impulse, on the other hand, is awesome. I felt like playing titan quest the other day, and had it downloaded and ready to play within 5 minutes. Here's hoping impulse becomes increasingly popular and outrageously cheap games even more commonplace...

Thanks for the update!

did we ever get the diplomatic win condition that was in the works?

on Feb 03, 2010

The Diplomatic win exists in the final version, but no, we have never received it.

on Feb 04, 2010

Well, here we are.

on Feb 04, 2010

Sweet, will be keeping Impulse off until next week then, as I still haven't updated it yet!

on Feb 04, 2010

ya... i think its less "we dont want you to play diplomacy" but more "The version of diplomacy we are working is farther along, and we dont feel like making the outdated version you all are playing with compatable."

Pbhead has it.    If we were further out from release, we'd happily make the effort, but it's coming out next Tuesday. I can relay that the final release is waaaaay better than the last public beta.

BTW, you can run/use Impulse normally. It will only update your games if you tell it to.

I'm a little confused - i updated SINs and Entrenchment then got a prompt for a 1.0 update for Diplomacy. I installed it and loaded it up and i have a 1.0 non-beta of it to play. I thought this game wasnt coming out for another week?! checking the update history it just gives '1.00 release' no other information.
