The next beta update for Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment is now available via Impulse for registered customers.  This build contains a number of balance tweaks, bug fixes and - hopefully - will prevent crashes related to running out of memory.

The turnaround for the update was quite quick. We only just had Beta 2. Not complaining just never seen updates with so many beneficial changes released during such a short time. You guys really stand out as developers.

this update has fried my copy of sins, I cannot start the game anymore. that is, if I click on the icons, the game starts to load up, butbefore I get to any screens or company logos, windows boots me and says the program does not work anymore.

it was fine before in beta 2 and I did not fiddle with the settings. I did not even copy the folder and paste it somewhere else prior to upgrading to entrenchment. it might be worth to say that when the update was live just now, I saw updates for both sins vanilla and sins entrenchment, while previously it was shown as just one icon. I did upgrade both (for a short while I tried upgrading them at the same time to see if it lets me, entrenchement update was about 93% complete when I started the vanilla one).

so, does anyone else have technical problems with this update? I ask, because I am not that keen on uninstall/ reinstall.

I use vista 32 bit if that makes any difference.

The changes to the beta are nice, but I'd like to the a range deacrease in the anti stucture friggates so they can't jsut sit there with fighter cover and anhililate your starbase

I am having the same problem, I have uninstalled and reinstalled through impulse and th get a runtime error, about to go did out the CD just to play.

Nice changes, the potential fix of crashes is a good thing. I'd still like to see the AI fixed so they dont just play 120% defensive with starbases

I had the same crash problem but it went away after a restart and loading sins first before anything else. Works fine now

Plants? Like an organic ship? Or just regular space plants? Maybe the space plants try to kill you and you make an alliance with them and get the upgrades to make space plants or wait, maybe the space plants are chasing the Vasarii!! Now I really want to see the space plants!
