A version 1.11 hotfix is now available for registered Sins of a Solar Empire customers via Impulse. This minor update fixes a resource exploit that was reported to us yesterday (thanks to everyone who helped us find this!).

Ah - bit like the CC bug where you could sell a turret, get some men out and cancel the decon and keep the men. Result was heaps of minigunners!!!!

I cannot find the patch on Impulse. How do I get it?

Yeah, Impulse keeps telling me that

"You are currently working in offline mode.

In order to install updates you must re-connect to the internet and relogon."

Sadly, it will also tell me that it is connected just fine and the update should be available. Now it's telling me that Sins is not installed correctly (I installed v1.05 update) and that I should look for an update!!!!! What a joke.

If I run the "Network Connection Diagnosis" it says that "All the tests succeded. You should have no problem connecting to the Impulse network." Obviously my network is fine or I'd be unable to post this message.

Impulse: thumbs DOWN. While an ambitious and noble idea, it isn't working at all. Why not just put the bloody update in an area of this website that requires logging in (and consequently registration of the user's key!) instead of mucking up my drive with this worthless software? I'm extremely irate at the moment. Anyone have any idea what I'm (apparently) doing wrong? Is there a forum thread somewhere that explains how the update process for Sins ACTUALLY WORKS? RRRRRRRRRRR!

I suppose I'll have to uninstall, reboot, reinstall, then try Impulse again. Unbelievable. All I want to do is play the game.

You go into Impulse, click Install on the game you want to patch (i.e. Sins) and wait.

The problem was that the refund code was ignoring if the structure was already dead or not so it was possible to refund it over and over again even though you only paid for it once.

The way this worked in practice was chain build/scuttling cap ship factories and getting a ton of credits and resources as a result.  Nice to have it fixed   Now I'm going to have to earn my infinitely stacking PJIs the hard way

i bought my copy from a retailer can i still update?

Yeah, you'll need to install Impulse and register your game with the cd key you got (click on the blue ? in the top right to register) and you'll see the new version show up.

Well, after uninstalling Sins (version 1.05), rebooting, installing new sound drivers, rebooting, installing new video drivers, rebooting, reinstalling Sins, and rebooting again, Impulse seems to work fine. I now have version 1.11 and am about to FINALLY play the game! Very strange problems with Impulse, but it seems to be working now. So I guess if you try to update with the retail version it will work. If you try to update from the manually updated version 1.05 it doesn't work. That was my experience, anyway. Can't wait to play! The game looks awesome.

funny. maybe its just my impression, but it seems to me the german speaking are the most numerous here amoung those without english as mother language. why funny? bc way back, the german retail partners refused for a long time to take on the product, because "there was no demand".

I'd really like to know how many copies were eventually sold there, both through calypso and SD central/ impulse. just to see those idiots proven wrong.

and yeah, I figure other language version will be up soon now that we have a final version. more or less.

Delicious irony, no? I'm glad at least Kalypso picked it up eventually, even if it took half a year.

ok a i have update me game i have the 1.11 now ,i can t play online wtf is that plz help

on Nov 30, 2008

Could you play before (1.05). If so, make sure port 7000 isn't blocked on your firewall. That was the only change I had to make to ensure that I could play 1.11 after 1.05. Of course, your issue could be something else...

Is there any alternative way of downloading this update? I bought the game through the website, but I cannot install Impulse because it is apparently incompatible with my windows installation language (spanish). For the game itself I copied from a friend and then used the serial I'd bought from stardock, but for the update that is not an option.
