The next major update for Sins of a Solar Empire is coming in mid-July!  In fact, it's so huge that we're going to be offering it as an optional beta for those who want to help test it out and provide feedback. Click through for all the details on what's coming in mid-July.

You could use then the download and arcgive feature of impulse.

Depends on how permissions are set up. School / Library computers around here are more than willing to let me download a file to my thumbdrive, but installing a program = no no.

could you clarify please?

You'd simply right click on the game in Impulse, and choose download archive. It will then just get the package and save it to disk without installing it; you can then copy said package to your home machine by whatever means, and restore it with Impulse there.

Yarlen, I went on impulse to download v1.1 beta, but I can't find it. Where is it and how many people are currently signed up for the beta (I don't want to wait 2 hours for enough people to show up for a game). Thanks

None, because it hasn't started yet

I thought they meant the real v1.1 was coming in mid-July. If the beta isn't coming out till then, then real v1.1 won't be out till August at least.

Yes, you'll want to get the full install of impulse from the about page on impulsedriven.com so you can install it on the offline machine (the default is a web installer).

Hello everyone,

I just purchased the game from www.proxis.be seeing it was finally available in Belgium.

Being someone who preferes to buy a boxed copy of the game, I was wondering whether I'd be able to get the final patch ones it comes out without any trouble ?

Also, will the add-on(s) be sold in stores aswell, or solely threw Impulse ?

@ JoHBe

Since your "boxed" version will be version 1.0 and we're currently running version 1.05 you will need to visit www.impulsedriven.com and download IMPULSE stardock's new distribution system in order to get updated as well as to receive future updates and patches.

I purchased the CE (collector's edition) on Feb 4th/08 (as I also like to "hold a box") but I used SDC (the distribution system being replaced by Impulse) to download and install SINS and keep it up-to-date.

Future game patches/updates will not be available as stand-alone patches, so you might as well install Impulse now.

thanks,

the Monk

Impulse hasn't been working very well for me. It won't let me update some games that Stardock Central will.

Same problem here.

If anyone is having Impulse issues, please post about them in the Impulse forum or contact support so the devs can get your issues fixed.

So with final v1.1 coming in mid-July I assume the Beta should be distributed very soon now? It's already a close schedule incorporating Beta feedback in a few days only..
