Maximum PC, a print magazine dedicated to PC gaming hardware, has published a review of Sins of a Solar Empire in their April 2008 issue (available now). You know it's going to be good when the editor of the magazine tells readers not to overlook Sins in his editorial, and the review doesn't disappoint either.

Maximum PC awards Sins of a Solar Empire a 9 out of 10 along with their KickAss award saying, "The fine mix of 4X-style depth and RTS-inspired design makes for an irresistible and addictive combination."

In related news, the sky was once again reported as being blue today, as well as the Earth confirmed to be round by the world's leading experts.

LOLOLOL brilliantly said!

But it's true, the good reviews have lost their shock value. We already know they are all going to love it. Giving this game a bad review would be like stating you know more about nuclear physics then Einstein. Which is well, very unlikely lol.

Reviews in general lost their value completely when they all said Halo 3 was the greatest game ever made.

Good point.

But they do earn credibility for giving good reviews to Sins.

Hey at least they dont give game of the year awards to games like blazing angels

I saw the original editorial and thought they might do that. Will Smith was quite impressed. Unfortunately, I don't have my copy of MPC yet to read (I was hoping it would come today), but this continues to affirm me that MPC knows their stuff. I'm also looking forward to their cover article as I'm going to build a new PC and look forward to playing Sins on there.

Yeah i was actually wanting to get my hands on that issue when i say the cover on this post. I`m also soon-to-be in the market for a new PC. Mine is decent. was kick ass in the day. but its over 4 years old so i need a new rig at least this summer.

Whats cool though is i`ll be saving money on one part for my next PC. The sound card.

last fall i got myself a SoundBlaster X-FI XtremeGamer. I wanted to check it out and thought to myself that it would be transferable to my next one anyways so i wasn`t wasting money. that's 150$ right there in savings lol. And yes, for those who have been wondering if it`s worth it. Holy moly is it ever worth it. The difference, without tweaking the settings, was clear compared to my old SB live i had. It was like my music was reborn. Adjusting the settings to your Preference, turning on the crystalizer(which can increase CD quality to BEYOND CD quality, im not kidding), and switching the video card into Game Mode (Game mode only available with the XtremeGamer and above, Yes the video card has 3 mode:Game, Entertainment and creation. Yes the processor behaves differently in all of them. Yes they sound radically different) with your custom settings is a blissful nirvana+heaven+mega awesomeness of audio quality. I wish they would put that in everything, even cars and movie theaters.

Anyways. yeah, i need a new PC lol.

You must mean Sound card... not video card. I don't know of any Video card that has the Game, Entertainment, and Creation modes...

Doh

see i'm tired, i meant sound card lol.

Thanks for noticing the mistake, if only i could edit my post lol.

Very nice indeed. As a MPC reader, it is a big huge compliment especailly with Sins being optimized for "normal" systems.

Awesomeness on the review of the sound card, you convinced me that I need to take some notice in that area of my gaming.

The X-Fi is definitely worth the money.  I went from an Audigy 2 to an X-Fi and was surprised that I could actually hear the difference.  Given how cheap the X-Fi cards are, I strongly recommend them to folk.

Woohoo!

On a side note if you guys are interested in getting into some political type of marketing. For the next issue I would consider taking out a small "thank you" advertisement aimed at the editors and the readership. Much mileage would be gained and on a couple levels I think.

For what it is worth as a PR type of guy, I would do it for all the major zines.

That would be ludicrously expensive.
