Its a good review, goes much more into the depth of gameplay

Though one thing i was wondering about:

players seem be designing six to ten function-specific fleets that are then moved like chess pieces to where they're needed and retreat when faced with unbeatable opponents.

Ive never seen that tactic "6-10 function-specific fleets" in my 20++ MP games.
What i see is 1-2 or at times 3 fleets mixed with different ships not 6-10 specific fleets

I've at most had 3 main fleets, and 2-3 support fleets.

The 2-3 are usually 1 group of LRMS and 2 Small Groups of Krosovs. The main 3 are each a capital and maybe 10 or more Cobalts.

And thats in a pretty big game... and Frankly wishing I could throw those LRMS into the 3 main fleets but its more effective to micro them.

I don't think I've ever seen more than 2-3 fleets either... Maybe they were playing a different version ?

I asked in another preview thread about which build they were playing, no answer yet
on Oct 18, 2007

Depends on the press outlet as to which build they got.

on Oct 18, 2007
So basically some probably got a build with more features than we can toy with? That's the idea I get from one of the reviews that mentioned no loading screens.. sort of makes me think Sins might have a campaign similar to Empire at War.. one big map with a story constantly unfolding and planets/techs/objectives opening up as it progresses.

*keeps dreaming*

I think they are they are able to 'customize' their Kol with point defenses or squadron capabilities. Althought this could mean that they could add points to the Flak Burst ability.

You know what I've relised we haven't seen those freighter(you know it looks all square and with like colums on its sides) looking ships from the trailer yet.

lots of ship models appear to have been scrapped...
on Oct 18, 2007
That is the really old Dunov. The basic design of the ship may make a reappearance in the future as a completely new ship and with a much more detailed model.

WHUT!?

I thought you guys werent incorporating new ship designs...

Expansion Schod, Expansion.

I don't think they're accepting new ideas at this point -- ships that have been "in development" are still possible, I'd say.
