GameShark has published their first hands-on preview for Sins of a Solar Empire, giving readers a two-page article on their thoughts of the game. Here's a quote off the preview, "Even with this relatively sizable article, I can’t help but feel I’ve barely scratched the surface of what the game has in store for gamers."

You can read the entire preview here:

There are no loading screens or rough transitions once you start a campaign; in contrast, the game seems to pull some inspiration from Supreme Commander in how you can seamlessly zoom in to close range

Actualy i think Ironclad thought of this them self. I for one first heard about this new zoom option in Sins

and there are even promises of “minor NPC” races to be encountered in various systems, adding additional depth and intrigue to the universe.

Now that sounds promising

scratch and sniff ? what ?

otherwise you might end up with something like Master of Orion 3. Play your cards right however, and you may instead get something with the promise shown by the latesdt preview build of Sins of a Solar Empire.

Anyone else go LOL?

Woot -- a glowing recommendation!

Hmmm, minor races might simply mean the militias found at every planet/asteroid.

(although annoyingly I haven’t yet found any function to force them to stay in formation during this process – my frigates always kept charging way ahead of my bigger capital ships and getting torn to pieces in larger fights)

Hear, hear.

Thats pretty much what I figured

It doesn't, but we've had to drop them from the game. There's not enough time to implement them at this point.     If Sins sells well, we hope to look at them again for an expansion pack.

You mean there wasent enough time to implement the minor races? cant you like any other game company expand the release date so it can be implement?

Probably not. "Any other game company" doesn't do it either. Only a few, very select, groups get to play that kind of game. Blizzard comes to mind. Not many others. Why do you think groups like, oh, EA, release so much pure junk (that looked like it could be good)?

Nope, the marketing has already been setup and timed to the current release date. Missing the window means the marketing will hit before the game's available = failure.

i feel sadness as there wont be any minor races to screw around with (in the near future)

Don't worry, there is plenty of stuff you don't know about to play around with.
