OOOOOH
something that caught my eye in this article:

"One of the best and worst things about this year-long beta testing process is that we receive so many great ideas that we want to get as many of them as possible implemented, but they just don't stop coming! At some point closer to release we'll have to cut it off, unfortunately, and save the unused ideas for the expansion."

expansion! yay!
one more thing to put on my list of things to get
although the expansion probably wont be released til at least summer of 09...

pfff, they devs will torture us and release the expansion before the actual game, but you wont be able to play the expansion for more than ten minutes w/o the final release version of the game.

good read, damn I am excited for beta 3......

"Two of the new ideas we are working with that we haven't revealed before: you will now be able to 'bribe' the pirates to take their business elsewhere -- it works great when their about to hit one of your key income planets and you don't have the means to rally a defense in time. The other new idea is that pirate raids will now be sighted before they are unleashed, giving players a final few moments to pile on some bounty to influence the raid's target."

"I'll drop a few hints: more environmental content, more NPCs, more ship customization, more UI advancements, more additions to the TEC (the currently accessible faction), more music, modding tools and much more!"
