Procrastination finally gave way...
Published on October 11, 2007 By Yarlen In Sins Developer Journals

During the development of Galactic Civilizations II, Frogboy tried to get me to write developer journals for it. I never did, mainly because I honestly didn't know what to write at the time. Most of the work I did on GalCiv II was feedback to the rest of the team, and late in the process, on business stuff (I only officially took on Stardock's publishing section after the game shipped). With Sins there actually is stuff I feel I can write about, so prepare to be subjected to the first of potentially many journals.

It's scary how time flies during the development process. You know in the back of your mind that deadlines are approaching, but it's only when you reach the point of no return that the alarms start going off in your head. I suspect Ironclad felt the same sense of trepidation when I sent them a timeline for what will be the last month and a half of development on Sins. We're in the home stretch now...

Now that we're nearing the finish line, there's a huge amount of stuff that has to be completed for retail distribution of the game. In the last several weeks, we've been working on getting out preview copies of Beta 3 to the press, meeting with our sales team to get sell-in at various retailers across North America, getting the retail box ready, starting on the manual, and working on the intro movie. Needless to say, coupled with the beta testing and work on the game itself, things have been really busy at Stardock and Ironclad.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be writing the manual for Sins and submitting the game to the ESRB for a rating. That's a lot of work in and of itself, but there's a whole lot more to be done in addition, including posting new titles on TotalGaming.net. I'll try to set aside some time to tell everyone about it here.

I predict an AO rating for sure. I can't wait for the copius amounts of nudity that will be in the full version.

Well that was the most pointless quote to a pointless reply about a supposedly pointless journal if ever I have seen one.

Just as a joke for all us early testers, is it possible to place somewhere in something within the retail product a memento (as an inside joke) like a comment on the pink space ponies or such, like in a file on the disc talking about private clan chats using the pink space ponies channel as an example???? Just a very silly thought.
